I have a confession to make. I love Christmas! And, in the immortal words of Wizard, I wish it could be Christmas every day!
Ok, maybe not actually be Christmas everyday – that would be exhausting! But I do love it and I’m constantly thinking, planning and doing Christmas-related things!
Why do I love Christmas so much?
There are just so many reasons to love Christmas!
Obviously, there’s the magic and the excitement. Everyone gets at least a teeny bit excited, don’t they??
It requires lots of planning – a list-lover’s dream! There’s shopping lists to be made, gifts to be bought, cards to be sent, food to be prepared, and activities and outings to be planned and booked.
Then there’s the crafting. There’s just so much you can make for Christmas! And it’s the perfect time to learn something new. It doesn’t matter what your skill-level is, there’s so much to choose from: cards, decorations, wrapping, baking, cooking…
And there are just so many facts about “the most wonderful time of the year”. I’m always learning something new. For instance, did you know that the first recorded Christmas tree in Britain was in 1444?
Plus, there’s the different traditions, the decorations, the food, the books, the films, the music (another confession: I have a vast, and rapidly growing, collection of Christmas records – but more on that in a later post), the festive spirit … I could go on.
My friends and family have put up with my obsession with interest in Christmas for long enough, so this year I’ve decided to inflict share my love for the festive season with the reader of this blog. In these posts I’ll be writing about, well, basically, ALL OF THE CHRISTMAS THINGS!
